Making a Seattle Movie! "The Orphan House"

"The Orphan House" is written by me, over Thanksgiving, produced by me, directed by me...and starring me!!! whoohoo its a Joy Villa extravaganza! That's not all folks, it also features my original music, and I've got musical surprises in the film for everyone.

The movie is a short, and we shot it in Seattle in a quick, smooth, and fantastic 6 days. I couldn't have chosen a better cast and crew...my team is amazing! Win/Win Productions is off and running this year with our second short film!!! (first one Jill and Jack)

I loved creating such a beautiful platform for other artists and creators to build upon and join in. I mean, we had everything in this film! We shot mostly on the Canon 60D, with 4 cameras most days! Canon 7D, 5D, and even my Canon Rebel T3i for stills and background footage! We have awesome behind the scenes!!

So the film follows Maxine Jackson (played by moi!) a stylish, foxy singer who quits her job as a nanny after discovering the father of the house having an affair with his co-worker. Not one to be embroiled in drama, Max sets out to find a new place to live.

She gets a tip about a local and eccentric boarding house, "The Orphan House" run by Leah Rutgers and her goddaughter, 13 year old Shannon.

Shannon finds a lovely big sister in Max, as Max opens up and teachers her to play guitar and sing.
It's a little bit Sound Of Music, a little bit Pieces of April.

Maxine falls in love with Michael "X", a singer in the punk band "Dead Wrong". She realized the family she grew up with never loved her as much as the family she finds at The Orphan House. Leah and Max share a bond, and both women's lives are changed, and tested when tragedy strikes.

In the end, Maxine finds that going through life is always better than running from it. And in the friends of her wise hippy friend Joe,

"You just gotta' make it up as you go along. That's what families are all about."

Doesn't that sound exciting? Trust me, it is!!

New Blog!

Hey Guys!

So this is my NEW blog, welcome to the fabulous and fun world of Joy Villa! If you don't already know, I am an actress, singer, dancer, model, writer and producer! Whew, I like to stay busy for sure. I model and speak at alot of events around Los Angeles, and I love posting pictures and sending out free invites when I can.

Recently, I modeled at 2 amazing events, a rockin mansion pool party for La Rehab in Sherman Oaks, and the opening of Rose Nadali's Cienega Spa in Beverly Hills.
